CATFISH

Other Review on Catfish click here

Catfish was a very interresting movie that kept you at the edge of your seat just about the whole time. I found it very intriguing but also extremely creepy. This film can't help to not make you wonder, what would it be like if you were "catfished"? I think anyone is susceptible to being catfished and that includes myself! In the movie Nevs response to what happened to him was very calm. I don't think that I would have a similar response. Shock would be an initial reaction because everyone thinks that things like catfish would never happen to them. If I was betrayed by a person that I thought I knew would be extremely degrading. The way I would view many things would also change. I would lack the aspect of trust that I would be able to have in people. Because of the abundant use of social media in todays society people are constantly leaving behind their own digital footprints. Each one is supposed to "describe" the type of person you are. These digital footprints seem to be easily manipulated and faked, meaning you should always be careful what you include in your digital footprint.

Jenson's Baby!

Actor Jenson Ackles from the CW show Supernatural, recently talked about what it is like having a new baby. He talked about how it is such a new experience for him that he already feels "lost". What new dad wouldn't be lost? Despite Jenson being so nervous, his new addition, Justice Jay a.k.a. "J.J", is one of the best things that has happened to him. Good luck to Jenson and his wife, Daneel Harris with their new parenthood!

Interviews Statistics

All of these videos are showing the interviews that my partner Anael and I conducted about what people think about news and infotainment! Throughout the questionnaire the people we interviewed expressed many different opinions, some of the statistics of our classes compiled information was actually very shocking.

When we asked the question "Do you get your news on- line, TV, or in print?" 37 people answered with online. Then, 10 people said print and 18 people said TV. This showed me that many people really don't rely on printed news anymore. Also, the correlation between age and whether people read print or not was a factor. Typically the people who were 48 and older were the ones who used print.
Another interresting statistic was if people consider celebrity gossip news. 43 people answered with no, 12 answere with yes and 4 answered with sometimes. Then, when people were asked if they believed that if an ongoing criminal trial was considered news, 45 people said yes, 14 said no and 3 people said it depends. These two answers were completely different. Along with this was asked "do you trust the major news networks?" The results for that was 29 people said yes, 17 people said no and 15 said maybe. Lastly, we asked if people trusted the internet for their news. When answering the question, 20 people said yes, 16 said no, and 23 said maybe. These results seemed to be the most evenly split.

When we asked people to "define infotainment" many people did not know how to respond. One response we got was, "[Infotainment] is trying to make information entertaining. This means that the news would include things that people want to see, not what they don't have an interrest in."

Along with this question we asked, "do you trust the major news networks?" The respsonse we got to that was, "No, only part. Certain news networks are not about the full truth. They only show their perspective."

First Interviewing Experience

The other day my partner, Anael, and I got the opportunity to go around the UCLA campus to ask people, whom we had never met before, questions. These questions were based on their opinions on how they view the news, what news they enjoy and many more similar questions. Throughout the interviewing process I noticed that the one question that was most difficult to answer was how to define "infotainment".

When Anael and I asked the question about infotainment people typically did not know what it meant. The most common response was "news that is entertaining to the viewer" or something along those lines.

During the interviews we were able to ask people of many different ages. This gave us a larger perspective on how opinions often differ greatly based on the persons age alone.

As a whole, this new interviewing experience was very enjoyable. I did not expect it to be as fun as it was but it turned out very well.

Adam Levine Gets Engaged

Adam Levine, lead singer of the band Maroon 5, and girlfriend Behati Prinsloo, who is a Victorias Secret model, recently got engaged! Over the past weekend Levine proposed to Prinsloo in Los Angeles, California. They had split up last year but when they got back together they thought it was time.

When I found out about this I was very shocked to hear about this news. I am personally a huge fan of Maroon 5 and specifically Adam Levine with the work he has done on The Voice and more. I think it is very interesting that he is finally getting married because he has dated so many people throughout his career. He always has a different girlfriend, especially ones who are models. I really did not expect him to get engaged anytime soon!
